When Modern Family’s second season premieres tonight we will be paying closer attention to the three homes on display. The Los Angeles Home section recently featured photos and a sneak peak inside the “ever-evolving family home” on ABC’s hit series Modern Family.
Richard Berg, production designer for the show, told the LA Times that “There are three multigenerational, multicultural families. You need to be able to tell whose house you are in at a glance.”
Let’s start with the patriarch of the family, Jay and Gloria’s home. This modern architectural home has the sophistication of Jay with a little of Gloria’s over-the-top personality displayed with the red accent wall and animal prints.
Next is the duplex of Mitchell and Cameron. The inspiration of their home is Asian, but the nursery takes a bit of a detour into something a little more whimsical.
Last is the home of the Phil and Claire Dunphy. This home, according to the LA Times, is more “conservative, defined by farm-style tables and comfy classics, including roll-arm sofas.”
Which is your favorite?

My favorite is Claire and Phil’s home. I am excited to create a style of my own with a little inspiration from the picture provided.
